The maximum effectiveness of an assistive device is achieved when it is individually adjusted, applied correctly, and worn consistently.

Every patient has specific needs that require a customized treatment and care plan. The wishes, values, and personal requirements of the patient determine the course of treatment and the choice of assistive device. Typically, a Gehen Verstehen® gait analysis is carried out at the beginning in order to develop an individualized assistive device concept. This is complemented by temporary user training under the guidance of an adVPhysio therapist to ensure that each patient gains maximum benefit. This process is carried out in close coordination with the attending physiotherapists. During the use of the assistive device, there is regular communication between the patient, adVPhysio, and the physiotherapists to review and adjust the patient’s individual goals as needed.

The goal of adViva Physiotherapy is to optimize patients’ walking ability and movement patterns, thereby enabling a significant improvement in their quality of life. Our adVPHYSIOtherapy concept is designed to help answer key questions:

  • Is my current assistive device the best possible one for me?
  • How do I load and use my orthosis or prosthesis, for example, when walking in everyday situations and during sports
  • In which phases of walking and in which movements can I use the device most effectively?
  • How can I achieve my goals as quickly and effectively as possible?
  • What can I do to actively enhance the effectiveness of my device?

In cooperation with external physiotherapists, the user training at adViva is conducted either before the start of therapy or during the therapy itself, depending on the individual circumstances in each case.

Gehen Verstehen®

Since 2020, our company has been the first in Germany to commit to the Gehen Verstehen® Code of Ethics and is a certified OT Competence Center. Our goal is to further strengthen the interdisciplinary and cross-professional approach to care. As a Gehen Verstehen® Competence Center, we apply a special form of gait analysis developed by physiotherapist and gait analysis instructor Kirsten Götz-Neumann. This method is based on the pioneering research of Dr. Jacqueline Perry (University of Southern California) and was further developed by the Observational Gait Instructor Group (O.G.I.G.). The Gehen Verstehen® gait analysis includes the assessment of both physiological and pathological walking patterns. It supports diagnosis and therapy for all patients with complaints affecting the foot, knee, hip, spine, shoulder, and neck. A comprehensive examination of gait, a systematic analysis, and therapy based on these findings allow us to address the root causes and resolve the primary issues. Our staff regularly attend courses by Kirsten Götz-Neumann and integrate the insights and philosophy of this approach into their daily work with patients.
