What is the difference between bandages and ready-made orthoses?

Bandages and orthoses are both orthopedic aids that help people become or remain mobile. They can be used for problems in the joints and other parts of the body (back, thighs). They have a pain-reducing effect and can be worn for a short or long period of time.  Bandages and orthoses have a stabilizing function; they work by means of compression.

The material of bandages is more flexible and allows for greater freedom of movement. They adapt to the body and are elastic. They also activate the muscles when moving.

Ready-made orthoses are made of stronger materials and can be individually adapted by orthopedic technicians. They are less elastic, more rigid and tighter than bandages. Ready-made orthoses relieve, reduce pain and protect against incorrect loading.

Where and how can I find the right bandage and what are the costs?

Bandages can be purchased with or without prescription in the adViva branches in Heidelberg, Heidelberg center and Sinsheim. They are prescribed by your doctor (e.g. orthopedic, general practitioner). We have the most common bandages in stock, so that you can take them with you directly. If you bring a prescription with you, then the legal co-payment will also apply here, which varies according to the health insurance company. Of course, you can also buy adViva bandages without a prescription at any time. We are happy to be there for you and provide you with comprehensive advice.

When purchasing bandages made of very high-quality materials, you will have to expect additional payments. The advantage of this premium assortment is that the adViva expert staff adapts these bandages individually to your requirements.

You do not need an appointment for the fitting of a bandage. Just come by adViva in Heidelberg center and please bring a little time with you. If one of the other adViva locations is better accessible for you, please contact us in advance.

Compression therapy

Which compression stockings do I need and how can I get them at adViva?

Circular knitted compression stockings for classic vein complaints and for their prevention

Circular knitted compression stockings are used for many different indications or for the prophylaxis of various vein complaints. They are used, for example, in the treatment of varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency (venous weakness, swollen legs), thrombosis, and also during pregnancy and sport.

These compression stockings can be purchased with or without a prescription. You can obtain a prescription from your general practitioner, gynecologist, phlebologist or angiologist, for example. Round knitted compression stockings are always precisely measured by adViva's specialist staff on site. An extensive selection of different compression stocking qualities is available at our various locations.

If you buy the stockings from the basic range (health insurance benefit) by presenting a statutory health insurance prescription, you will only have to pay the statutory co-payment. For the high-quality premium compression stockings that we have in stock for you, there are additional co-payments depending on quality and design. An appointment is not necessary here.

Flat-knit compression stockings for lipedema or lymphedema

If flat-knit compression is necessary, for example because you suffer from lymphedema or lipedema, it is best to obtain a prescription from your phlebologist or angiologist. But gynecologists and general practitioners also issue prescriptions. We would be happy to welcome you before your doctor's appointment and draw up a treatment proposal together with you, which you can then present to the doctor treating you.

If you already have a prescription, then you are welcome to make an appointment with us. Together with you, we will process an anamnesis sheet, measure the affected body parts, take photos and show you the most suitable products for you.

If you have private insurance, you will then receive an individual cost estimate which you can submit to your insurance company before you receive treatment. Payment can be made in advance or you can sign a cost transfer form.

For our customers with statutory health insurance, we are the sole contact for cost inquiries to the health insurance companies.

In this case, only the statutory co-payment is usually due for flat-knitted compression care - exceptions are pre-selected extras, the wide variety of which we have available for you at our locations. Depending on processing and quality, an economical co-payment is also required here.

Orthopedic insoles

I need orthopedic insoles. What do I have to do?

Orthopedic insoles are available at all four adViva locations. You will receive a prescription for insoles from your doctor (e.g. orthopedic, general practitioner). Before this appointment, we recommend that you stop by one of our locations so that we can provide you with a fitting suggestion as a guide for your consultation. This will ensure that you receive the correct prescription straightaway, which we can use to adjust your insoles. Of course, this appointment is not absolutely necessary.

As soon as you have a prescription from your doctor - and of course we would be happy to do this beforehand - you can make an appointment with us. During this appointment, which should take about 30 minutes, an examination of your feet will be carried out, a footprint will be taken and you will receive a comprehensive insole consultation.

As soon as the insoles, which are produced in our own workshops, are ready for collection, we will inform you and arrange a collection date. You should also plan about 30 minutes for this. Bring the shoes to this appointment, in which the insoles will primarily be worn, so that we can carry out a fit check on site. This will ensure that the shoe, foot and insole fit together perfectly.

Once this check and any necessary adjustments have been made, you can take your new, personalized adViva insoles directly with you and wear them.

For which conditions is the wearing of insoles recommended? What effect do orthopedic insoles have?

For which conditions is the wearing of insoles recommended? What effect do orthopedic insoles have?

Orthopedic insoles are effective for numerous complaints such as hallux valgus, heel spurs, foot malpositions and others. adViva provides specific treatment for specific problems and strains. Individual fitting is of great importance, since every foot is different and therefore requires appropriate treatment.

The range includes bedding, corrective and neurological insoles. Inform yourself at adViva about the wide range of products.

What are the costs of orthopedic insoles? Do they all cost the same?

Depending on whether you choose basic care (health insurance benefit) or premium care (private benefit), the costs will vary.

In contrast to the basic insoles, the premium insoles offer even more options for individual customization: they will be even more accurately tailored to the wearer's requirements - e.g. the insoles are to be sports-specific, pain-specific. Even a change, should this be necessary afterwards, is possible at any time.

Regarding the costs: Both types of insoles are subject to the statutory extra payment, which varies depending on the health insurance company.

ATTENTION This fee does not apply to children up to 18 years of age and to persons who are exempt from the co-payment. With the premium care, additional costs will be incurred depending on which model you choose. Our expert advisor will be happy to inform you of these costs during the consultation.

The health insurance companies grant you the right to two pairs of orthopedic insoles per calendar year. Please ask your insurance company for more information.

If you are privately insured, please submit the prescription from your doctor (e.g. orthopedic, general practitioner) to your insurance company. Depending on your insurance company, you will receive a full or partial refund of your costs.
